March 28, 2020

The Governor has announced all K-12 schools be closed for an additional 2 weeks.

Press Release

As much as we miss all the smiling faces on campus, we feel it is important to follow state guidelines. This additional closure would bring us to April 10, 2020. We intend to resume campus life as soon as it is safe to do so.

What you can expect:

Mount Ellis Academy will not reopen at the end of Spring Break, and all students should plan on remaining at home until further notice. Arrangements have been made for students staying with host families to remain in place.

Montana Serves, Alumni Weekend, and Academy Days have been postponed until further notice.

The MEA Faculty are actively working on our distance learning program. This program will remain in place until campus life can resume in full. Should our campus reopen, distance learning will be available for students who are not able to return.

On Monday, March 30, 2020, we would like all students to login into Zoom. A link will be sent out independently of this announcement with instructions. This will allow us to test the system and take the necessary steps should issues arise.

If any family does not have access to the internet or is concerned with bandwidth, please let me know as soon as possible so arrangements can be made.

Mount Ellis Academy will be using Google Classroom as the platform for our distance learning program. Students can expect communication from their teachers before instruction begins.

The Monday and Tuesday following Spring Break will be spent fine-tuning the program, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and working with students. Students can expect instruction to resume on Wednesday, April 1, 2020.

The Mount Ellis Academy faculty and staff are committed to your student’s success. We are looking forward to bringing all of our students to the finish line at the end of the year.

Communication in times like these is key. Should you have any questions regarding our academic program, please contact our Vice Principal of Academics James Stuart. If you have administrative questions please contact Brent Tungesvik.
