There is nothing worse than waiting and wondering when the outcome affects our children and their education. I have heard many in our community say, “we are living in extraordinary times.” It is a good thing we have extraordinary Students, Teachers, and Parents.

On Thursday, March 19, 2020 Governor Steve Bullock released additional guidance related to public K-12 school closures. In addition to the two-week closure through March 27, 2020, Governor Bullock has requested all schools prepare for continued or future closures. As of this update, a decision has not been made on future closures.

On Thursday, March 19, 2020 the Mt Ellis Academy School Board voted to follow state guidelines and continue with distance learning should extended closures be required beyond Spring Break. As the State mandates and travel restrictions are lifted, we will welcome our students back to school. For those students who are unable to travel, distance learning will continue through the end of the school year. Arrangements will be made with host families for domestic and international students who did not travel home for Spring Break.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as decisions are made. As we continue to brace for extraordinary times, I would encourage you to be extraordinary in prayer for God’s healing hand over our great country, state, and school.
